Sri Lanka to buy US$760mn in chemical fertilizer

Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers has approved the purchase of 760 million US dollars in chemical fertilizer from the world market in April 2020, an official statement said.


Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers has approved the purchase of 760 million US dollars in chemical fertilizer from the world market in April 2020, an official statement said.

The cabinet approved a proposal by Mahaweli, Agriculture, Irrigation and Rural Development Minister Chamal Rajapaksa to buy fertilizer for the state-owned Colombo Commercial Company Limited and Ceylon Fertilizer Company Limited.

A contract of 27,400 metric ton contract of urea (granula) for 270.74 million US dollars was awarded to Valency International Trading Private Limited.

A 2,040 metric ton contract of urea (frilled) worth 228.30 million US dollars was awarded to Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises Limited.

Another 263 million US dollar contract for 3,000 metric tons of triple super phosphate was awarded to Golden Bali International Trading Private Limited.
